2012 Junior TAS AWARDS EVENING

All students who have played JTAS Sport in 2012
are invited to celebrate a wonderful year of Junior
Sport.
AFL
Year 5/6
On Friday 9 November, the Year 5 and 6 Canterbury
AFL team returned to Springwood for their final
matches of the AFL season. The Year 5 team has
shown true dedication and commitment to the
season, vast improvements have been made in the
skills of the students and all team members should
be congratulated. Zachary O’Donnell, Alexandra
Fliakos, Kyle Cossor, Chelsea Weaver, William
Love, Cian Murphy, Ryan Warwick, Matthew
Haegel and Jackson Ramsay-Heathocote.
Thank you to the parents for their support, in particular
Greg Fliakos for acting as coach and timekeeper.
Well done Year 5/ 6 AFL.
Year 6/ 7
Year 6 def. by WMAC
The Year 6 and 7 group of AFL stars continued their
AFL season on Friday 9 November, with several
players out due to other commitments and injury.
The Year 6 team were up against a tough opposition
in Redeemer. With Redeemer scoring the first goal,
Canterbury rebounded brilliantly to post two goals of
their own. In a see-sawing battle, individual brilliance
was shown by Jason Hancox, Bradley Nuttall and
Luke Raynor. Year 6, congratulations on a fantastic
season of AFL.
Year 7 def. JPC
The Year 7 AFL game was a true pressure cooker.
Undefeated going into the final round, the pressure
had been built and it was time for the team to work
together and have fun. With JPC agreeing to a four
quarter game, the Canterbury boys settled into a
rythym. The team of Bradley Nuttall, Stuart Farmer,
Cameron Squires, Isaac James, Josh Attard, Jack
Dockray, Jason Hancox and Caleb Pyne must all
be congratulated on their sportsmanship, attitude and
performances delivered each week. The entire team
have earned the undefeated title. Well done boys!

SWIMMING
The Canterbury College Junior Swimming Squad is
currently training at Aqua Logan Gould Adams Park,
Kingston under the very capable instruction of Dylan
Rackley, a former National Short course Champion
and Swim Coach from the Rackley’s Swim School.
All students capable of swimming 50m in a squad
environment are welcome and encouraged to
attend. This training program is in preparation for
the 2013 District and JTAS Swim Championships.
Monday: 6.30am - 7.45am
Wednesday: 6.30am - 7.45am
Friday: 6.30am - 7.45am,
3.45pm - 5.00pm.
All interested students must complete an Intention
to Participate form, available from the Junior School
Office.
