DYLAN LEYLAND – SELECTION FOR AUSTRALIAN
RUGBY UNION JUNION GOLD PROGRAM
Congratulations to Dylan Leyland on his selection
for the Australian Rugby Union’s (ARU) Junior Gold
Program. The Junior Gold Program is the initial entry
talent development program of the ARU’s Pathway to
Gold program. The program will provide high quality,
nationally coordinated off and pre-season training
programs to players in the U15-17 year age groups
(in 2013). Full-time ARU High Performance coaches
are appointed, and accredited Junior Gold Program
coaches provide on and off field development. Player
selection is based on performances through the 2012
season and perceived potential. Many players are
viewed through the various representative programs
at school and junior club level so selection in this
program is a big achievement for Dylan.
BRIDGETTE FRENCH – 2012 QUEENSLAND
FIGURE SKATING CHAMPIONSHIPS
Congratulations to Bridgette French on her
success at the 2012 Queensland Figure Skating
Championships, held at Boondall during the first week
of the September school holidays. Bridgette qualified
in two divisions at the championships: Ice Precise (the
Open Synchronized Ice Skating Team) and Icekateers
(a Junior novice team accredited by Iceskating
Australia as a team eligible to represent Australia if
successful at National level). Both Ice Precise and
Icekateers achieved First at the state finals, and
Bridgette will now represent Queensland at the
Australian National Titles in both divisions at the 2012
Australian National Figure Skating Championships.
The National Championships will be held at Boondall
from 1-9 December, 2012. Good luck Bridgette, we
are proud of your achievement and wish you all the
best at the Nationals.
HEIDI WHALLEY – 2012 SHOWJUMPING
CHAMPIONSHIPS
Heidi Whalley of Year 11 competed in the 2012
Australian Showjumping Championships held in
Werribee, Victoria in September. It was Heidi’s first
national competition and she entered the Junior
Section (under 18 years), winning one of the classes
as an individual with her horse ‘Awful Close’ and
forming part of the winning Queensland Junior Team
that defeated the other states in the teams event!
Congratulations Heidi, a spectacular outcome for
your first national competition. Well done.
