The final week for Year 12 provides an emotional
time for students, families and staff. We wish each of
the Year 12’s well for their upcoming holiday, Senior
Schooling Exit Statements and entry into further
studies and/or the work force. Tuesday saw the
students enjoy a day of recreation at Wet ‘n’ Wild with
their Form Teachers, Dr Peddell and Mr Coleman.
Wednesday’s awards evening was their last and was
a special event for all prize recipients. The Valedictory
Dinner, Valedictory Chapel and Final Roll call were
each special celebrations as we farewell our Seniors
of 2012.
A special thank you to all the Curriculum Coordinators
of Year 12 subjects, their teaching teams, Dr Katie
Peddell as Year Level Coordinator, and the Form
Teachers. Such an event as completing Year 12 is
significant in a person’s lifetime and usually involves
a few challenges along the way. We express our
thanks to the families of Year 12 and especially the
parents for entrusting their children to our school and
staff for many years of education.
Mrs Anderson has appointed the student leaders for
2013. The College Captains are Eleanor Hilston
and Eamon Kearns. The College Vice-Captains are
Rhiannon Nind and Daniel Taifalos. The Prefects
are Courtney Ellmers, Caitlyn Fields, Emma Kerr,
Amelia Norton, Marina Pennisi, Kekoolani Visan,
Ebony Williams, Riley Forbes, Rob Joseph,
Blake Lockett, Josh Noney and Ivan Zhang. We
congratulate these fine students and wish them well
in their leadership roles for 2013.
Years 10 and 11 students commence exams in the
near future and should be in academic focus mode
in class and at home. Year 10’s will sit exams in
large groups under Year 11/12 styled conditions
so as to prepare them for 2013. It is important that
each student in Years 10 and 11 undertake the QCS
practice exams in the exam block, so as to have
the opportunity to receive feedback early in Term
1, 2013 from which they can enhance their skills in
preparation for the Core Skills exams themselves.
In these final days of Semester 2, we encourage
students to maintain their focus through to their last
lesson. With assessment continuing until the last
days, students are expected to attend until the last
day, Friday 30 November. Students are asked to
commence returning text books under the direction
of class room teachers when appropriate in the last
days of term.

YEAR 12 – END OF YEAR INFORMATION
Most students in Year 12 have either put in a QTAC
application or have an idea of their pathway for next
year. If any student would still like to discuss their
options, please feel free to see me.
I recommend that students who are uncertain of their
study plan, or students who are applying outside
Queensland, should put in a QTAC application as
a backup. This application can be accepted and
deferred if the student is looking at a gap year or
other study.
Remember to constantly take note of the QTAC
website and to check your email for any changes to
courses. There have been many changes to courses
being offered next year, including additional and
withdrawn courses.
Keep your QTAC guide handy. Page 2 has all the key
dates for QTAC tertiary study applications and page
15 discusses financial help and useful websites.
Year 12 students who find they need further assistance
with their plans for 2013 university courses are able
to attend information sessions that universities offer.
Please check the website of your preferred university
to attend any information sessions that may be
advertised.

QUT REAL DECISIONS
QUT Caboolture will hold its Real Decisions event
on Wednesday 19 December, to provide last-minute
information for people considering changing their
QTAC preferences. Staff will provide advice about
courses and careers in Business, Creative Industries,
Education and Health, and current students will be on
hand to talk about their university experience at QUT.
