Valero Texas Open
NOTES
Justin Leonard’s earnings at the Valero Texas
Open are $2,222,328, making him the first player
to earn more than $2 million at the event.
Justin Leonard defeated Jesper Parnevik on
the third hole of a sudden-death playoff in 2007. It
was the first playoff since 1999 when Duffy
Waldorf defeated Ted Tryba. It was the 11th
playoff in the history of the event and the first
playoff that was extended to three holes in San
Antonio.

DUFFY WALDORF
Justin Leonard won in come-from-behind fashion
in 2007 for the sixth time in his 11 career TOUR
victories. That included coming from five strokes
behind third-round leader Jesper Parnevik to win
his first major championship, the 1997 British
Open. Leonard has also come from five strokes
back in the final round to win three of those five
come-from-behind titles. The largest come-frombehind
victory in San Antonio came when Bruce
Crampton came from six strokes back to defeat
Bob Charles and Chi Chi Rodriguez in the 1964
event.
Justin Leonard made two bogeys for the week
last year when he won for the third time at
LaCantera. Both bogeys came at the par-4 10th
hole. The first bogey came on his first hole of the
week in the first round and the second came in the
final round.
