Clowns
FUN!!!! FUN!!!!FUN!!!!
April has found your clowns
involved in attending dinners, parades
and conventions … just to mention a
few things. Special recognition was
given to the clown Unit for their participation
in the annual circus and plaques
given to Mike “Tic-Kits” Nelson and
Charles “Wrongway” Howard for their
circus chairman functions. We are also
proud to announce that the “Joey’s” in
the picture went to the I.S.C.A. convention
in Evansville and all finished in the
Top Ten in costume competition with
Mike “Tic-Tac Tic-Kits” Nelson finishing
second and also Top Ten in the One-
Man skits. Rob “Dr. Floppy” Plummer
finished first in the balloon competition
for multiple balloons.
As you can see, we take pride in
our craft and are more than just a
“bunch of pretty faces.”
Wrongway’s World
The Potentate, Jerry, and a clown,
Wrongway, apply for a job setting telephone
poles.
The boss says, “OK, I’ll hire you
both but on a trial basis. Whoever out
performs the other will get to keep the
job.”
Both men are satisfied with the
agreement and go to work the next day.
At the end of the day the foreman calls
both men in for their report. He asks the
Potentate, “Alright Jerry, how many telephone
poles did you set today?” The
Potentate replies, “I set 12 today.” The
foreman marks it down with a nodding
gesture and says, “Very good.”
He then looks at the clown and
asks him the same question. Wrongway
replies proudly, “I set two telephone
poles today!” The foreman says,
“What?? Only two?? Did you hear that he
set 12 today?” Whereupon the clown
replies, “Yes, but look how far his are
still sticking out of the ground!”
The Shrine clowns are always
looking for new members with new
ideas and a willingness to “clown
around.” We can teach you the art of
makeup, costumes, juggling, etc. If you
would be interested in joining our Unit,
please contact President Chuck “Zero”
Halfway through this year, the song “June is busting out all over” can be heard
from shore to shore. This is the beautiful month of June weddings, Flag Day and
Father’s Day. To the happy couples, good luck as you begin your lives as one and
plan for many years of togetherness. Be sure to get “Old Glory” out and display it
with pride and passion for a country loved and honored by all. The majestic colors
of red, white, and blue flying in the clear sky above represent our symbol of
patriotism. Everyone should pay homage to our flag by saluting, singing, or reciting
words of appreciation. Finally, be sure to spend precious time with your father,
commonly referred to as the “Head of the Household.” Pay reverence to him;
honor and cherish the moments and times he shares or has shared with you, your
family and friends. Thank you for our fathers.
To those ladies traveling to the 91st Annual Supreme Session “The New
England Experience” in Springfield, MA, from June 10-14, renew your friendships
across the country, learn many new ideas and procedures for our organization, and
enjoy the historical Eastern coast of the United States. Everyone will be anxious to
hear about your travels when you return.
The Shrine Paper Crusade will be held on Friday, June 22 (4 p.m. - 8 p.m.)
and Saturday, June 23 (10 a.m. - 5 p.m.) in Marion and surrounding counties. It
would be an honor for those ladies who are available to help with this philanthropic
project. The papers contain information about the Shriners Hospitals’ locations,
telephone numbers, medical treatments, and success stories of former patients. If
your time permits, contact the Murat Centre for additional information.
Supreme Appointees are Past Queens of Koran Temple who have received
recognition from Supreme Queen Elect Eleanor Green for the coming year.
Hopefully, several appointments will be given to Koran at this Supreme Session.
your call to get a petition for membership for your friend(s) to join our organization.
Call her soon and get the process started.
Our next Stated Meeting will be on Wednesday, September 7, at 7 p.m. in the
Trowel Trades Building. Enjoy your summer months with family and friends.
Finally, my closing thought to each of you: True friendship is like sound health; the
value of it is seldom known until it is lost.
