Parade Committee<br />

<strong>The</strong> year is half over and most of the available parades are<br />

still ahead of us! So far we have had a great year and are looking<br />

forward to continued success. <strong>The</strong>re are just a few glitches that<br />

need to be worked out for that to occur. Unit Parade Chairmen<br />

must remember to secure an invitation from the parade promoters<br />

and then consent from the Potentate so everyone is aware of what<br />

is going on and all the paperwork is in order for insurance coverage<br />

to be in effect. In some cases, protocol is in place where our<br />

Potentate must ask permission from the Potentate of the Oasis that<br />

is sovereign where the parade is taking place, such as Kerbela<br />

<strong>Shrine</strong>rs in Knoxville, TN, for the “Smoky Mountain Fun Fest” at<br />

Pigeon Forge, or a parade in South Bend, IN (ORAK), or Vincennes,<br />

IN (HADI), all in other jurisdictions. <strong>The</strong>re is still time to get those<br />

invitations and permission out of the way for upcoming events, and<br />

there are some GREAT ones to have! Some of the more popular<br />

ones with the greatest crowds and most participation are:<br />

We met at the American Military Heritage Foundation Museum<br />

at Post-Air Airport for a cookout for our members in the “Buzzard’s<br />

Roost.”<br />

<strong>The</strong> “airplane” is getting some minor maintenance work<br />

accomplished and there was a “progress report.” Mike Blaydoe<br />

showed everyone the outstanding job he had done in “slicking up”<br />

the prop spinner that had been slightly damaged. Most of the members,<br />

as usual, brought their ladies with them to fully enjoy the festivities.<br />

You do not need to be a pilot to join the Flying Fezzes.<br />

Meetings are the second Monday of the month in the Mecca Room.<br />

Indianapolis Scottish Rite of Freemasonry<br />

Job Description:<br />

<strong>The</strong> Indianapolis Scottish Rite, a men’s fraternity of 32nd degree<br />

Freemasons, seeks Field Director of Membership Recruitment and<br />

Retention to directly solicit Master Masons to become members<br />

of the Scottish Rite and motivate existing members to retain their<br />

membership. This will be accomplished through planning and<br />

implementing events designed to inform potential members of the<br />

benefits of membership and executing follow-up mechanisms on<br />

prospects. In addition, the Field Director will recruit and train<br />

volunteer membership team members in local lodges and on county<br />

wide basis to supplement direct solicitation efforts.<br />

This is a full time position with significant evening and weekend<br />

travel.<strong>The</strong> candidate must be a Master Mason and a member of the<br />

Scottish Rite.<strong>The</strong> candidate must be enthusiastic about the Fraternity,<br />

be familiar with the structure and leadership of the Scottish Rite and<br />

affiliated fraternal organizations, have advanced communication skills<br />

and should have some experience at visiting Lodges and other Masonic<br />

organizations.<br />

<strong>The</strong> compensation consists of modest base salary plus significant<br />

incentives depending on success level of recruitment efforts. <strong>The</strong><br />

Indianapolis Scottish Rite offers health, dental, life, and long term<br />

disability insurance; paid time off; and an excellent defined benefit<br />

retirement program.<br />
