In <strong>Turkey</strong>, it has been recorded from 11 localities <strong>in</strong> n<strong>in</strong>e prov<strong>in</strong>ces s<strong>in</strong>ce 1980, from Erz<strong>in</strong>can to Artv<strong>in</strong> and Bitlis to Hakkari. Its extent <strong>of</strong><br />

occurrence is 54,376 km2 and area <strong>of</strong> occupancy (with a spatial adjustment to 40 km2 <strong>in</strong> each 10x10 km square) is approximately 400 km2 .<br />

RED LIST ASSESSMENT JUSTIFICATION<br />

Caspian Satyr (Satyrus parthicus) is a localised species with an area <strong>of</strong> occupancy <strong>in</strong> <strong>Turkey</strong> <strong>of</strong> approximately 400 km 2 . It has a scattered and<br />

severely fragmented distribution <strong>in</strong> E <strong>Turkey</strong>, occurr<strong>in</strong>g as small isolated subpopulations. There are no specific threats associated with this butterfly<br />

but, due to its small AOO and severely fragmented distribution, it is listed as Near Threatened.<br />

Due to the severely fragmented distribution no regional adjustment has been made to the threat category.<br />
