What we are doing<br />
On Ox<strong>for</strong>d Road from <strong>Manchester</strong> city centre to the<br />
Central <strong>Manchester</strong> Hospitals site<br />
• Local consultation on scheme detail<br />
• Changing junctions, adding speed reduction measures<br />
and improving pedestrian and cycling facilities along<br />
Lloyd Street / Cambridge Street to discourage this<br />
residential area from being used by additional through<br />
traffic<br />
• Local consultation on this scheme detail<br />
• Improved pedestrian crossings along Upper Brook<br />
Street improving access between Ardwick and<br />
<strong>Manchester</strong> University/Ox<strong>for</strong>d Road along with<br />
localised widening of the road to improve the flow of<br />
traffic<br />
• Adding cycle lanes along Ox<strong>for</strong>d Street, Ox<strong>for</strong>d Road<br />
and Grosvenor Street<br />
• 1.6 kilometre (1 mile) section of Ox<strong>for</strong>d Road to be<br />
closed between Grosvenor Street and Hathersage Road<br />
to general traffic. Can only be used by buses, hackney<br />
carriages (black cabs), emergency vehicles and cycles<br />
