7.2 GENERAL SITE SETTING AND TERRAIN
The subject property is undeveloped and occupied by a portable shed set on a concrete pad
enclosed in chain-link fencing, overhead electric utilities and a water pipeline. The subject
property has variable topography that is generally higher along a central north-south axis across the
property. The drainage features present on the subject property drain toward the east in to Silver
Basin and toward the west-southwest in to Eagle Creek.
7.3 WASTE MANAGEMENT/UTILITIES
There is no waste management currently in place on the subject property and no utilities currently
serve the subject property. However, overhead power transmission lines cross the subject property
and are located along the unimproved road visible on the southern portion of the subject property.
No pole or pad mounted transformers were visible on the subject property. Additionally, a water
transmission pipeline crosses the subject property in the same location as the power transmission
line. The pipeline is primarily underground except where exposed at ground surface across drainage
features on the western edge of the subject property. The pipeline, where exposed appeared to be
cement encased pipe in very good condition.
7.4 EXTERIOR OBSERVATIONS
Several small excavations and soil piles were visible on the subject property and appear to be the
result of small scale mining work. The excavations varied in size with the largest observed
excavation being approximately ten (10) feet in length by four (4) feet in width and four (4) feet in
depth. The soil piles were typically adjacent to the excavations and also varied in size relative to the
size of the excavation. There were no visible areas of stained soils, mine tailings or dumps, mining
equipment or mining materials visible at or around the excavations or on any other areas of the
subject property.
8. INTERVIEWS
8.1 CURRENT AND PAST PROPERTY OWNERS, OCCUPANTS AND/OR SITE MANAGERS
FMI personnel were interviewed by Mr. Lawrence N. Kemp of SMA regarding the subject
property during the site visit on January 27, 2012 and following the site visit via telephone and
email. The FMI personnel stated that subject property has not been developed, other than small
scale mining prospects, and that the land was administered by the Arizona State Land
Department (ASLD). They also stated that to their knowledge no PSTs or other potential RECs
are or have ever been located on the subject property. Additionally, they also stated the pipeline
observed on the south side of the power line road is steel pipe encased in cement that was
constructed in the 1970’s and is used to move surface water from area creeks and rivers on to the
mine property. FMI personnel also stated that the overhead electric utilities supply power from
the mine property to the water pumping stations located near the surface water sources.
