of h their Central Intelligence Units and are attempting to
blackmail
the American Government. Unless the White
House
F
gives in to the demands, the CIU will be blown sky
high.
Fortunately, an agent discovered that the bomb was
hidden on the 62nd floor of a hotel and also learned the
special
I
code necessary to stop the bomb from being detonated.
i Unfortunately, he was then discovered but he did
manage s to leave several clues dotted round the hotel waiting
for i some brave agent to break in.
n The hotel is split into units of eight floors and before you
can move to the next unit, you (for it was you that was fool-
a
hardy enough to volunteer) must discover the location of the
key
m
to the emergency exit. This is owned by the porter who
will e quite willingly give it up if you can find him. This is no
easy s task though as first, you must search the furniture for a
pass s key that will let you open all the doors of the hotel and
discover . their contents. The hotel is also infested with enemy
agents F who will shoot on sight if you don't eliminate them
first. You can also leap and duck out of the way of stray
bullets
o
as well as firing from a normal and low position.
r The hotel is full of features to be examined and explored.
eYou
need to find the various bits of password that will help
idefuse
the bomb. There is money to be found which can be
gspent
at the bar or gambled away in a game of dice. Clues are
n
also hidden in furniture although you should be careful
a
exactly what you examine. An electric socket gives a nasty
shock if you insist on looking at it too closely and you can
galso
have fun with the fire extinguishers. Movement through
ethe
hotel is by a series of lifts hence the title of the game.
n Although it sounds fairly simple to play, believe me it's
tnot
and you will fi nd yourself getting wasted fairly
s frequently. The graphics are colourful and quite well ani-
h
mated, especially the enemy agents. k nice original arcade
adventure that -even though it is very difficult to finish, is
a
very simple to play and always demands 'just one more go'.
TOMB OF TARRABASH
H
ainside
an ancient tomb where there are statues and weird
v
creatures and of course, the inevitable mummies?
There is another in that genre and it lacks a lot of origi-
c
nality and is really quite tedious.
y Once you've worked out how to play the game and how
othe
controls work you're halfway there.
u The character which you control (looking absolutely
enothing
like Indiana Jones!) can walk left and right and
vjump.
You'll need to get the hang of jumping as SOOn as possible
because there are some very wide gaps to negotiate. If
e
you fall down the stair gaps it doesn't matter but if you fall in
r
a sandpit then you dissolve very quickly and lose a life.
p You can also walk behind the stairs if you jump as you
lare
approaching them so there aren't as many dead ends as
aFirst
impressions create. If you stand behind the stairs then
yyou're
safe from the monsters too. This is quite handy as you
can wait till there are less of them around to kill you before
e
you cautiously emerge.
d
Other traps include bars which come down on you jus4 as
ayou
walk beneath them and giant saws which do likewise.
nI
lowever, these can be slowed down considerably by nutting
y buttons in the ceiling of the tunnel. There arc plenty of these
oaround
all operating different traps so the best thing to do is
f hit them whenever you see them.
t
You may find that this game appeals to you, but on the
whole I think it's far too tedious. Even with the limited
h
memory available I think that more imagination could have
ogone
into it. M . C .
