over. The MBEP Alumni network at Tuck boasts a
membership of over 4400 minority business leaders.
These alumni organizations serve as a strong support
network for minority business executives and advocacy
groups for minority business education. In addition, these
organizations raise scholarship funds to help minority
executives attend Tuck's executive education programs.
MAMSDC also has a local educational program offered
by Rockhurst University. The Rockhurst scholarship
program allows MAMSDC certified MBEs to take up to 12
credit hours per semester, including courses within the
Helzberg School of Management. Courses are offered
weekday evenings and occasional weekends to
accommodate the busy work schedules of the MBE
owners, or employees. These courses are regular college
courses and can lead to a degree if the student so desires.
Rockhurst also offers MAMSDC certified MBEs an
Executive MBE Program that targets entrepreneurs who
know their industries well, but face challenges growing
their business. MBEs that participate in the Executive MBE
Program gain access to a team of Rockhurst Students in the
Graduate Program who will access their company and work
closely with the MBE to help the business owner make
better decisions to grow their company to scale. In order
to become a candidate for this program, the certified MBE
must have a profitable business operation over the last
two calendar years, annual revenues that exceed $500,000,
and a company that is in a growth market. With this kind
of specialized help, they could be on their way to growth
and profitability.
Together, NMSDC and MAMSDC offer educational and
business development programs in order to help turn
new ideas into bigger business opportunities for MBEs
across the country. Interested MBEs can contact their
local NMSDC chapters for additional information,
program requirements, referrals, and in some cases,
program scholarships.
