Senior’s Day<br />

State’s Case-in-Chief<br />

Senior was interviewed by Police Officer Mike Beck on October 9, 1996.<br />

(Vol. LX, R. 1872-87) Senior also testified before a grand jury on December 5,<br />

1996. Senior’s statement to Beck was consistent with his grand jury testimony.<br />

Senior testified to the grand jury that he worked as a pipe insulator at the<br />

Clinton Powerhouse and operated a car lot, Miracle Motors. On September 27,<br />

1996, Senior left for work at 5:30 a.m. and got home from work between 4:30 and<br />

5:00 p.m. Jeanette and Kolten were home when he arrived. Jeanette and Kolten<br />

went shopping and Senior went to his car lot at 6:00 p.m. (Vol. LVIX, R. 1663;<br />

Vol. LX, R. 1876-77) Phone records show a call was made from the Miracle<br />

Motors Lot to the home <strong>of</strong> Senior and Jeanette at 4:31 p.m. (Vol. LXV, R. 2825)<br />

Defense Evidence<br />

The defense <strong>of</strong>fered no testimony as to the whereabouts <strong>of</strong> Senior from 8:00<br />

a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on September 27, 1996.<br />

Karyn’s Night: After 5:00 p.m.<br />

The State’s Case-in-Chief<br />

The State presented no witnesses who saw where Karyn went after she left<br />

the Herald and Review parking lot.<br />

The Defense Evidence – Car Sightings<br />

For ease <strong>of</strong> following the sightings <strong>of</strong> Karyn Slover and the car she was<br />

driving, counsel has included People’s Exhibit 147 in Appendix C, which is a color<br />

map <strong>of</strong> the sightings identifying who saw Karyn and when they saw her.<br />

Just after 5:00 p.m., Leo Meyers saw a blonde haired girl pull up to the left<br />

<strong>of</strong> his car at the intersection <strong>of</strong> Water and Wood Streets in Decatur. The car’s<br />

license plate was CADS7. The blonde was petite, attractive and wearing sun<br />
