DEREK & JULIE’S BUSY WEEKEND:
AUSSIE, AUSSIE, AUSSIE !oi, oi, oi!!
CASSEROLE (Hamburger) NIGHT: 25th January, 2013:
This night was huge success, it was a great start to the GREAT OZ WEEKEND. Approx
43 people came around to our place to eat, drink and merriment. Derek and Grant were
our BBQ chefs, and they did a “fair dinkum” awesome job. There were bowls of onions,
lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, beetroot, pineapple which could all be slapped onto a bun.
Thank you to all the ladies who brought a dessert for “afters” (if you could find the room
to fit it in). The weather was perfect and it was sad when everyone went home.
FIREWORKS BUNBURY: 26TH January, 2013:
30 of us met at Shell Waikiki and at 4.30pm we “hit the frog and toad”, and headed
straight down to the Freeway via Paganoni Rd. While it was warm in the sun we had a
strong sea-breeze all the way. Settlers Roadhouse was our pit stop where we had
arranged to meet 4 extras. Arrived in the car park approx 6.45pm and walked over the
bridge to meet more members who were lucky enough to be staying at the “Lighthouse”
Resort for the night.
Everyone was free to walk around the carnival and enjoy all the fun of the fair. 8.30pm
lights out and eyes skywards, “BOMBS AWAY’!!!! The sky burst into beautiful coloured
explosions. Afterwards, we met back at the bikes for the ride home. The traffic was kind
to us, well, we were a bit sneaky, but while others blasted home, the rest of us stayed
pretty much together. Between Pinjarra and Mandurah we saw our first and only
kangaroo. Derek spotted him to the left, I spotted him, don’t know how he missed me, but
it copped a hit from Sed. Luckily Sed didn’t come off, he’s ok just a bit of a sore leg, bike’s
ok, Brian swerved and did some tricky maneuvers!! Well done to us all!!!! Arrived safe
and sound ready for tomorrow’s ride.
SUNDAY 27TH January, 2013:
This ride had a good turn-out too. We all set off behind Derek and headed for
the hills. At Dwellingup a few riders stayed, the rest of us went on turned off
the main road and headed on the “Coolup” Rd. It was a lovely ride to the South West
Hwy, Old Bunbury Rd, over the Forrest Hwy, and along the first Estuary Rd to the
Mandurah Coast Rd. Then into Mandurah to Ciccerello’s for a “feed”. A few riders went
their own way but as always, we had a great ride, great food and great company. Derek
and I would love to thank everyone who helped us and supported us throughout the
weekend, without you it would not have been as much fun.
Cheers,
Derek & Julie
