Page 2 Sound Rides Volume 13 Issue 2 Hi All Well the National AGM is fast approaching and for those heading East, travel plans are most likely well underway. If you are still pondering about whether to attend, there isn’t much time left (as we know, time just zips past the older we get and before you know it, the AGM will have been and gone). And whilst the National AGM is just around the corner, so too, is the AGM for WSW. Nomination forms will be available from the MARCH social meeting with voting taking place at the MAY social meeting.To ensure that everyone who is entitled to vote is afforded the courtesy, can you all PLEASE ensure your records are up to date at a local level (your details as provided at a national level are available locally for privacy reasons). Our “little red book” is where you, the member, update the records for WSW. Please see either Secretary Sandra or myself at social meetings to check your records. This past weekend we had our Masked Ball and it was great to see many of the guests get into the spirit of the event – ladies in evening dresses and gents in formal wear – a sight to behold. Alan and Annie were our judges for the evening and the winners of best costume went to Janette (Pride) for the ladies and to Joe (Casserly) for the gents. Well done! Carli is sure to have photos in either this or the next edition of the Sound Rides so keep your eyes peeled. I take this opportunity to wish Keith Wellfare (Committee Member and MC with the ability to shock us and make us laugh all at the same time!) - safe travels as he ventures off for a 3- month sojourn around this vast country, taking in the AGM on his journey. Keith’s preparations have been over 12 months in the making and his trailer has now been finished (a labour of love!) and is complete with Ulysses number plate. Whilst he will be away for three of our social meetings, no doubt he will keep us entertained with snippets in the Sound Rides over the next few months. Keith, ride safe and more importantly, remember the journey! Now as we know, sometimes the best things are said / written in total innocence (“out of the mouth of babes” is a saying that comes time mind). And below says it all! Just how true is this?! Page 3 Sound Rides Volume 13 Issue 2 Evening All. Another month of varying rides & raising funds, for various events & charity donations. A big thank you to everyone that helped out at The Mandurah Triathlon, good team effort & to Chris for the organising. Couldn’t make it this time but I believe the Fireworks in Bunbury, led there by Derek & Jules was a great night, although Sed had a fright on the way home? And what a busy weekend they had, a very interesting & scenic ride to Mandurah for Fish & Chips the next day, cheers Derek & Jules. Thanks to Chris & Dianna for the Australia Day Brekky on the beach. And Peter & Allan are back on the Bitumen after two outings on Dirt roads. Hope that everyone who supported the Valentines Dance had a great time. Ian Dix. v/p. RIDING ON JOURNAL. The ‘Riding On’ journal is an official publication of the Club, and is published four times per year, in February, May, August and November. The name ‘Riding On’ is a registered trademark of the Club.25 Every member of the Club receives a copy of the journal. The journal is produced by a publishing company which recovers much of the costs of production from advertising in the journal, subsidised by payment from the Club from membership funds. Journal content is controlled by the Editor, who maintains all editorial control subject to National Committee scrutiny. Generally, much of the content is sourced by the editor, and anything deemed to be contentious is submitted to the National Committee for approval to publish. Because of the costs involved in conducting a mail out of notices to all members, the Riding On journal is also used for official notices, as cost of sending the journal to all members is already budgeted for. Some members from time to time question the need for each member in a household to receive a journal, but as it contains official notices, this procedure is a considerable cost saving over mailing out such notices to all members.
