Susans Moto GP story.
Fri 19 th Oct - After much stuffing around at Dr Mario's
with a bit of a hic up or two on the little boy. Finally packed
and ready to go.
All night I could hear the little Italian boy singing…The bags
are packed I’m ready to go I’m standing here outside Your
door.
Saturday 20 th Oct, I rode to Christine’s after work. We
headed to Merredin to stay the night with another Guzzi
owner.
It was A basic trip from north of the city to Merredin,
having to contend with cage drivers, trucks and lots of those
Holdens with the pretty blue & red lights. Luckily we weren't
trying to make the miles. Stinga turned on his culinary
expertise with an Italian dinner to honour Italian bikes.
Relaxing in Merredin with a few
lemonades, cheese & biscuits.
Sun 21 st Oct - Damn! I knew I needed to listen to the little voices in my head, when
they said top up in Southern Cross. It's amazing how much fuel one uses going 1 or 2 ks
over the limit with strong head on winds. So, 24ks out of Coolgardie, Christine went
off for fuel for the little boy and 40 mins later comes over the rise then pulls in
alongside. My first thought is she has one of those Mary Poppins Panniers. Nope the
gerry can had fallen off somewhere.
So off Christine goes again to look for the misplaced can, while I am bent double over
in laughter. No wonder no cars stopped - a lunatic on the loose. Occy straps vs Andy
straps. give me occy straps any day. So much for an early start. Another 45mins and
we hit the road again.
Then there was a moment with the boys in blue with an unmarked car, near Norseman.
After seeing them braking and giving us daggers, we constantly checked the rear view.
Lucky outcome!
We had heard there were bikes a day in front heading to Moto GP though didn’t see
any other bikers that day. After dodging lots of road kill and riding though a river of
blood between Caiguna and Cocklebiddy, Our day ended at 5pm. I might also mention ,
there is a thousand and one uses for a Guzzi. Managed to
decapitate a brown. Christine was a little worried that it
would flick up and in its last dying gasp latch on to her
throat.
Monday 22nd Oct - when we pulled in at Mundrabilla we
found this....
