The following are the requirements <strong>for</strong> using <strong>NetBackup</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Microsoft</strong> <strong>Exchange</strong> <strong>Server</strong>.<br />
◆ Version 4.5 Feature Pack of the <strong>NetBackup</strong> client <strong>for</strong> Windows, Remote<br />
Administration Console <strong>for</strong> Windows, or the <strong>NetBackup</strong> <strong>Server</strong> <strong>for</strong> Windows,<br />
installed on the <strong>Microsoft</strong> <strong>Exchange</strong> <strong>Server</strong>.<br />
◆ <strong>Microsoft</strong> <strong>Exchange</strong> <strong>Server</strong>, version 5.0 or greater.<br />
◆ To back up messages or mailboxes, a MAPI email client must be installed on the<br />
<strong>Microsoft</strong> <strong>Exchange</strong> <strong>Server</strong>.<br />
<strong>Exchange</strong> Cluster Environment<br />
In an <strong>Exchange</strong> cluster environment, the virtual <strong>Exchange</strong> name is used as the client name<br />
<strong>for</strong> per<strong>for</strong>ming backup and restore operations of <strong>Exchange</strong> objects (databases, mailboxes,<br />
and folders).<br />
The following requirements need to be met <strong>for</strong> each <strong>Exchange</strong> node in the cluster:<br />
◆ The <strong>NetBackup</strong> Windows client installed.<br />
◆ The <strong>NetBackup</strong> Client Service Account configured <strong>for</strong> the Mailbox feature.<br />
◆ The Mailbox <strong>for</strong> <strong>NetBackup</strong> Client Service configured <strong>for</strong> the Mailbox feature.<br />
Backup Operations<br />
The following are the requirements to per<strong>for</strong>m an online backup of <strong>Microsoft</strong> <strong>Exchange</strong><br />
<strong>Server</strong> databases and mailboxes.<br />
Mailboxes<br />
The following <strong>Exchange</strong> <strong>Server</strong> services must be running on the target <strong>Microsoft</strong><br />
<strong>Exchange</strong> <strong>Server</strong> computer that will be used to back up individual mailbox objects or to<br />
which individual mailbox objects will be restored.<br />
◆ <strong>System</strong> Attendant (MSEXCHANGESA)<br />
◆ For <strong>Exchange</strong> 5.x, Directory (MSEXCHANGEDS)<br />
◆ In<strong>for</strong>mation Store (MSEXCHANGEIS)<br />
<strong>Microsoft</strong> <strong>Exchange</strong> 5.x<br />
◆ The following services must be running on the <strong>NetBackup</strong> client machine:<br />
- <strong>Microsoft</strong> <strong>Exchange</strong> <strong>System</strong> Attendant (MSEXCHANGESA)<br />
