A wonderful, little-known shrub with a low mounding habit and small
violet-purple, lilac-like blooms that appear in late spring and don’t stop
until frost. Very fragrant! This little shrub has great commercial potential!

Family: Fabaceae (Les-ped-eza: A Spanish Governor of Florida and patron to Michaux)
‘Gibraltar’ (L. thunbergii)
This beautiful weeping plant is a waterfall of pinkish-purple in mid to late
summer with masses of vivid flowers. Plant it where it can drape over
a wall or walk. Discovered by Bill Frederick Jr. at old Gibralter Estate in
Wilmington, DE. 2011 Theodore Klein Plant Award.

‘Samidare’ (L. t.)
The name translates as “Monsoon Rain Over Land” which is fitting as this
beauty is a shower of bright fuchsia, pea-like flowers in late summer.
