A wonderful, little-known shrub with a low mounding habit and small<br />

violet-purple, lilac-like blooms that appear in late spring and don’t stop<br />

until frost. Very fragrant! This little shrub has great commercial potential!<br />

Lespedeza Bush Clover<br />

Family: Fabaceae (Les-ped-eza: A Spanish Governor of Florida and patron to Michaux)<br />

‘Gibraltar’ (L. thunbergii)<br />

This beautiful weeping plant is a waterfall of pinkish-purple in mid to late<br />

summer with masses of vivid flowers. Plant it where it can drape over<br />

a wall or walk. Discovered by Bill Frederick Jr. at old Gibralter Estate in<br />

Wilmington, DE. 2011 Theodore Klein Plant Award.<br />

The name translates as “Monsoon Rain Over Land” which is fitting as this<br />

A cute dwarf mounding selection with dainty violet-purple flowers in late<br />
