MEMORADUM REGARDIG PAREEUGGUR.<br />

The city of Pareenuggur was ruled by Hansoo <strong>and</strong> Bhoodaee, s<strong>on</strong>s of Purmar Durnee,<br />

who left Aboogud <strong>and</strong> established themselves there. Its populati<strong>on</strong> was 5,200 families of<br />

Banians, 900 of blacksmiths, besides 700 of Rajpoots, 1,200 of craftsmen, <strong>and</strong> 1,300 of<br />

Lowanas. Hansoo had two s<strong>on</strong>s, Govundda <strong>and</strong> Bheern, of whom the former succeeded<br />

him as Chief of Pareenuggur. Govundda had four s<strong>on</strong>s, Vursing, Vethuldass, Bheem, <strong>and</strong><br />

Chundeu, the last of whom succeeded to the Gadee. Chunden, before his morning<br />

abluti<strong>on</strong>s, gave crores (untold wealth) in charity every day, for a period of four <strong>and</strong><br />

twenty years. He had two s<strong>on</strong>s, Sire <strong>and</strong> Neer, who both became outlaws, <strong>and</strong><br />

c<strong>on</strong>sequently the rule devolved up<strong>on</strong> Bheem, the sec<strong>on</strong>d s<strong>on</strong> of Hansoo. Bheem dug a<br />

large tank by the name of Bhaeepo at his own expense, <strong>and</strong> sunk 140 wells in it. He ruled<br />

till his death, by which event the family of Hansoo became extinct.<br />

The abovementi<strong>on</strong>ed Bhoodaee peopled a city by the name of Bhoodasur * , <strong>and</strong> dug a<br />

large tank bearing the same name; but as water did not remain in the tank, he killed his<br />

s<strong>on</strong> Narundass, <strong>and</strong> buried him in it. After this, Dhurnedur’s third s<strong>on</strong>, Purmar, <strong>and</strong><br />

Mapal’s five s<strong>on</strong>s, by name Rajsing, Rajasoor, Mundluk, Malar <strong>and</strong> Ramchund, ruled<br />

Pareenuggur in successi<strong>on</strong>. Of them, Rajasoor dug three tanks, <strong>on</strong>e situated near<br />

Bhaeepo, <strong>and</strong> the other two near the village of Vadlaee. The last of the five chiefs was<br />

succeeded by Rajasoor’s s<strong>on</strong> Bhojasing, who was succeeded by his brother Bhojraj, who<br />

was succeeded by Purmar Mala’s s<strong>on</strong> Adesing, who was succeeded by Samdass, who<br />

was succeeded by Pattul, who was succeeded by Govindra’s younger s<strong>on</strong> Bheem, who<br />

was succeeded by his s<strong>on</strong> Khengar, who was succeeded by his brother Deepoo, who was<br />

succeeded by (his nephew Khengar’s s<strong>on</strong>) Chooro, who was succeeded by his cousin<br />

(Deepo’s s<strong>on</strong>) Hurbhum, in whose reign a force bel<strong>on</strong>ging to the Emperor of Delhi<br />

arrived <strong>and</strong> destroyed the city of Pareenuggur, which was deserted by its inhabitants, <strong>and</strong><br />

c<strong>on</strong>sequently laid waste.<br />

KUTVUJAJEE OF BUDRASIR.<br />

In March 1103 A.D., three images were c<strong>on</strong>secrated at Patun: their names were<br />

Narrangorjee, Nowrungorjee, <strong>and</strong> Gorechorjee; the last named was brought to Parkur by<br />

Sa Megga.<br />

Boodesir was established about two thous<strong>and</strong> three hundred <strong>and</strong> sixty-eight years since<br />

(i.e. 512 B.C.}. Parkur is the most delightful of countries, <strong>and</strong> is to the surrounding<br />
