Definiti<strong>on</strong>s<br />
The following definiti<strong>on</strong>s apply in these regulati<strong>on</strong>s:<br />
Country <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> origin: The country in which the <strong>plants</strong> or the parts <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the <strong>plants</strong><br />
were grown<br />
European countries Countries bel<strong>on</strong>ging to the geographical Europe, including<br />
Svalbard, Jan Mayen, the Canary Islands, Madeira, the<br />
Azores, Cyprus, Malta, Russia west <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> 60 degrees east, but<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>no</str<strong>on</strong>g>t Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Georgia<br />
Nursery <strong>plants</strong>: a) Woody ornamental <strong>plants</strong> for cultivati<strong>on</strong> in the open air<br />
b) Perennial herbaceous ornamental <strong>plants</strong> for cultivati<strong>on</strong> in<br />
the open air (except flower bulbs and dormant corms)<br />
c) Plants for fruit and berry producti<strong>on</strong><br />
Pest: Organisms (including, am<strong>on</strong>gst others, <strong>plants</strong>, bacteria,<br />
fungi and close organisms, nematodes, insects, mites and<br />
other animals) or viruses, viroids and other forms <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
pathogenic agents, which can be injurious to <strong>plants</strong> or their<br />
growth c<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong>s.<br />
Place <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> producti<strong>on</strong> Any premises or collecti<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> fields operated as a single<br />
producti<strong>on</strong> or farming unit. A place <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> producti<strong>on</strong> may<br />
include several producti<strong>on</strong> sites which are separately<br />
managed for phytosanitary purposes.<br />
Planting: Any operati<strong>on</strong> for the placing <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>plants</strong> to ensure their<br />
subsequent growth, reproducti<strong>on</strong> and propagati<strong>on</strong>.<br />
Plants: Plants intended for planting and other living parts <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>plants</strong>.<br />
Living parts <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>plants</strong> include, am<strong>on</strong>gst others:<br />
fruit, in the botanical sense (<str<strong>on</strong>g>no</str<strong>on</strong>g>t deep-frozen)<br />
vegetables (<str<strong>on</strong>g>no</str<strong>on</strong>g>t deep-frozen)<br />
tubers and corms, bulbs and rhizomes<br />
cut flowers<br />
branches with foliage<br />
cut trees with foliage<br />
Plants and other regulated<br />
articles:<br />
Plants, as well as, for example, wood, grain, mushrooms,<br />
growing media and other items which can carry infestati<strong>on</strong>s<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> pests.<br />
Plants intended for planting: a) Plants which are already planted and are intended to<br />
remain planted or to be replanted<br />
b) Plants which have <str<strong>on</strong>g>no</str<strong>on</strong>g>t been planted yet, but which are to<br />
be planted, including, am<strong>on</strong>g other things, seeds, sci<strong>on</strong>s,<br />
budding materials, plant tissue cultures, bulbs and<br />
corms.<br />
Sale and marketing: Possessi<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> products with a view to sale, <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>fering them for<br />
sale, distributi<strong>on</strong> and the actual sale <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> products and any<br />
other form <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> transfer, whether or <str<strong>on</strong>g>no</str<strong>on</strong>g>t payment is involved.<br />
Seeds: Seeds in the botanical sense, except seeds which are <str<strong>on</strong>g>no</str<strong>on</strong>g>t<br />
