Gear Restrictions: 203 mm minimum mesh restriction<br />

CURRENT WEEK MANAGEMENT INFORMATION<br />

Advisory Meeting held in December,<br />

85 gill nets averaged 5 Chinooks for the 24 hour fishery<br />

The Bella Coola River IFF catch is ahead of 1990 and 1991/<br />

Week 24, 1990 - 390 drifts for 679 Chinooks (1.7 Ch/drift)<br />

1991 - 364 drifts for 690 Chinooks (1.9 Ch/drift)<br />

1992 - 496 drifts for 1064 Chinooks (<strong>2.</strong>2 Ch/drift)<br />

The IFF Chinook regression model is predicting an escapement of<br />

Chinooks for Week 24.<br />

- The gear in operating in 8-13 was separated from the rest of the Bella<br />

Coola Gill Net Area. 11 gill nets operated in 8-13 catching 81<br />

Chinook for the fishery. The majority of the fish caught in this area<br />

were were packed in separate totes to be sampled separately from the<br />

rest of the Chinook by Port Samplers in Vancouver.<br />

CURRENT WEEK RECOMMENDATION<br />

Tuesday June 16<br />

- To close the fishery as scheduled at 1800 hours June 16th.<br />

- The Chinook surplus can be harvested in an orderly manner by fishing<br />

1 day per week<br />

NEXT WEEK'S RECOMMENDATION<br />

Thursday, June 18<br />

-To open for 24 hours in the same location as this week.<br />

Recommendation accepted.<br />
