forces are not a separate arate major group in SOC2000, like it is in ISCO ISCO-88. 88. In ISCO ISCO-08, the major
group ‘Armed forces’ is even divided into three unit groups, which do not exist in SOC2000 and can
cause problems of capturing these more detailed division.
8.4 4 Overall conclusions of the English NOC
The SOC2000 resembles the conceptual framework of ISCO ISCO-88. 88. There is an one one-to-one
mapping of SOC2000 codes to ISCO ISCO-88 codes (except for the sub-major major groups 11 and 12 as
discussed above), the major groups corresponds roughly with the ma major jor codes of ISCO ISCO-88.
Because the SOC-2000 2000 resembles the ISCO ISCO-88 88 code, no major problems are expected while
incorporating the new ISCO-08. 08.
9. The National Occupational Classification in Germany
The German Statistics Office (Statistisches Bundesamt) has produced roduced in 1975 the first
German National Occupational Classification (STABU or KldB) KldB). The latest version of KLdB was
produced in 1992.
9.1 .1 Description of the German NOC
The KLdB has been produced independently from the ISCO classification (see Annex 1).
Skill level plays a key role in ISCO classification but not in KldB (See Appendix 9 for the structure
of the KLdB-1994 1994 and the correspondence with ISCO ISCO-88). . In the latter the occupations are
classified according to the type of occupational activities. The KLdB-1992 1992 does not distinguish
between employed and self-employed, employed, and different levels of company hierarchy. The KldB-1992
distinguishes five classification levels (see Table 111).
