US$ 14m AgEnt project completes major phase 2 AgEnt is a dynamic USAID funded private sector agro-enterprise initiativesuccessfullyas- sisting companies and entrepreneurs with viablc business/marketing plans to expand existing operations or start-up new ventures targeted at both domestic and cxport markets, Richard Hurelbrink, AgEnt's Managing Director, stated that over the last 20 months AgEnt had made nearly 200 shared investment grants" covering a very diverse range of agroenterpre sectors and products to enable cornpanies and entreprenusproved 3 day agrl-business/ International mark. eting workshops Over 100 senior/mid management executives and entrepreneurs throughout the country attended 4 workshops held in (olombo, K-andy and Nuwara Ehya. The workshops were concepted/run by AgEnt in association with Mississipi State University's Agri Business Institute. As a result of idependent market research conducted at the conclusion of the majority of the workshops, AgEnt will intensify its training efforts in the mtea [ting' a arena in 1995, as many train another. 50 credit officers (mainly from the financial xommun-. ity)whoarCemployedat an operationai credit management level with responsibilities in the agriculture sector.
