KNOX: Today we welcome the East Burwood Rams
to the fort for the last round of the season. It was a
victorious day last week out at Blackburn for the Falcons
with two of the three teams getting up. It started off with
the colts unfortunately going to down to Blackburn in a
disappointing effort. Without registering a goal, the colts
today will be looking for a much-improved effort against
East Burwood. The reserves needed to win to keep their
top-two ambitions alive. With a slow and wet start to the
game, we took a one-goal lead into quarter time. Keeping
Blackburn scoreless helped set up a comfortable half
time lead, which turned into the second half. A fantastic
fi nal term turned a sloppy game into a 59-point win. With
neither team looking at playing fi nals, the seniors match
was a point of pride. We needed to start well and that
we did. Coming out on fi re setting up a 29-point quarter
time lead thanks to Cliff, who took without out a doubt
mark of the year. With Blackburn having the wind in
the second, they hit back kicking four goals to one. Both
teams fought a tough third quarter with great efforts by
Greaves and at the last break the Falcons had a 28-point
lead. The last quarter was much the same with the Falcons
running out 22-point winners. This week’s player profi le
is Paul Tredrea. Old man Tredders may have been around
the traps for a while now, but his wisdom has rubbed off
on current stars in the team. In his time off the fi eld Paul
enjoys dressing up for little kids and drinking fruity lexia.
A thankyou to all who turned out to the dinner dance last
Saturday, it was a fantastic night had by all. Good luck to
all players to day and go Falcons!
LILYDALE: Our Senior side still has not broken the
Vermont hoodoo. The 91-point margin refl ected the
difference in their ability to run as a team and our failure
to do so. Best players were Ashraf Davies, Ben Power,
Jake Taylor and Matt Wright. The Reserves failed to play
under pressure for four quarters and went down by 122
points. Better players were Andrew Wadsworth, James
Munro, Tom Herbert and Stephen McDonald. The Under
19s strengthened by the return of players from the Seniors
had a comprehensive 86 point victory. Best players were
Tom Rourke, Billy Gardner, Jake McInnes and Brad Lowe.
It augers well for the fi nals but we all feel for Lachlan
McInnes and his family, who injured his knee in Round 1
on the 21 April, but since he has been up and about, has not
www.efl .org.au 12
missed a match to cheer his team-mates and the Seniors
on. We all hope his recovery is successful. Our Club is
NOBLE PARK: Congratulations to the Reserves on
a fantastic win against East Burwood last Saturday.
Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the Colts and
Seniors. This week the Bulls plays host to Vermont,
we welcome Vermont to the Bullring for the last home
and away game for season 2012. Today the Colts play
their last game for 2012 – they were just that one step
away from playing fi nals. We say a big thank you to the
players, parents, volunteers, coaches, team managers,
time keepers, interchange stewards for the season and
look forward to you all returning for season 2013. Season
2012 would not have been possible without the support
of volunteers. THANK YOU to those who volunteered
during the year. We look forward to your support and
we look forward in others putting their hands up to help.
Today is Eric Caughey’s last home and away game as
treasurer of the Bulls. Eric has done a wonderful job over
the years, volunteering his time and effort doing every job
there is around the club. THANK YOU Eric. Tonight after
the game we are hosting a Hypnotist night – if you would
like to attend please see Leigh. Presentation night is on
Saturday 6 October – all welcome – for more info please
see Tracey, noblepark@efl .org.au or keep an eye on the
website www.nobleparkfsc.com.au! GO BULLS!
NORWOOD: Norwood hosted its fi nal game at Mullum
Reserve for season 2012 when East Ringwood made the
shortest of trips across the Maroondah Hwy for round 17
action. Our boys were looking to set a club record and
complete an unbeaten 9-0 year at home. East Ringwood
tried hard early but in reality could do nothing about it
as our boys dominated from start to fi nish to record an
historic 50-point win. Conditions made it, not surprisingly,
a slog, but the home side had the better of it early, but we
