DIVISION 4 CLUB NOTES
FERNTREE GULLY: Round 18, this is what we are all
waiting for: the Finals! Last round, we had our Under 19’s
playing at Silvan and our other two teams playing at Forest
Hill. This made it very hard to support each other. So, the
Under 19’s went to Silvan for a must win game – and they
did. We started strongly and led by 23 points at quarter time.
Despite a seonc quarter comeback by Silvan, we managed
to kick away in the second half and run out winners by 113
points. Now they have secured their spot in the fi nals. Great
work! The reserves were very undermanned this week.
Starting the game with only 18 players and no bench, the
boys did their best and didn’t give up. The fi rst half didn’t go
to plan for Joel, the boys didn’t kick a goal, only three points.
In a blistery game we only managed to kick three goals.
Forest Hill sealed the game by kicking 7 – 13 – 55 to Ferntree
Gully 3 – 10 – 28. Unfortunately they are not in the fi nals,
but the club is very proud of them all. Good effort boys. The
seniors on the other hand did have a win. At the end of the
fi rst, Ferntree Gully was up by 1 point. In the second, the
weather wasn’t any better and the wind got stronger. At the
half time siren, there was three points in it. The third quarter
our boys kicked 3.5, this was a good quarter for us. The last
saw our boys adding another three goals to seal the game.
Final score Ferntree Gully 8 – 12 – 60 to Forest Hill 4 – 6 –
30. Great work boys – now we have two teams in the fi nals!
FOREST HILL: Last Saturday saw us host Ferntree Gully
for the last round of the home and away season. Results
were mixed with the Reserves recording a good win while
the Seniors fi nished off the year with a loss. While it would
have been great for the Seniors to fi nish the season with a
win, the way results went meant we still would have just
missed the fi nals. Our reserves however, still have a fi nals
campaign ahead and with the form the boys have shown all
season we are looking for them to give it a real crack. The
Seniors showed that despite missing the fi nals action again
we are heading in the right direction and 2013 looks like
being a great year for the Zebras. The season concluded with
the post mortems at the vote count, but we are hoping to have
at least one fl ag to celebrate when the fi nal event of our social
calendar, the Presentation Night, is held on September 22.
Tickets are available from Pud, Carmel (0438 932 727) or Jo
or at the bar on training nights. The venue is the Hungarian
Community Centre, 760 Boronia Road, Wantirna. Be there
by 7pm for a 7.30pm start. It’s $50 per head with drinks at
bar prices. A great chance to celebrate the achievements of
2012 and to begin our 2013 campaign. A huge thank you to
everyone involved in both a playing, offi ciating or support
function of our junior and senior sides who’s seasons are over.
Enjoy your well-earned breaks and we hope to see each and
every one of you back bigger and better in 2013. Make sure to
get down and support the Magoos on Saturday at Walker Park
as they commence their fi nals campaign. Also on Sunday 26
August, the Vets play their semi-fi nal at Lilydale. Get down
and support both our teams who are still alive and trying to
bring home another fl ag to Zebraland.
KILSYTH: Congratulations to our reserves side on making
DIVISION 4
fi nals for 2012, also our veterans commence their fi nals run
today. Well done to all who attended last Saturday’s function,
some outfi ts gave pyjamas a whole new meaning. A special
thankyou to all the workers who helped make the job of
hosting junior fi nals over the last four weeks a great success.

NUNAWADING: Congratulations to both Frank Salanitri
and SIngo for leading both Nunawading teams into a
fi nals series for the fi rst time in over four years. A bigger
congratulations to all the players who have put their bodies
on the line in 2012 to make sure us supporters can taste
some of the fi nals action. Now is the time however to do
it for yourselves. This might be the only chance you get
so make the most of your opportunities. Last Saturday
saw Nunawading take on the Eastern Lions at home. In a
close fi nish, our seconds were unable to bring home the
chocolates going down by only a few points in what was
a wet and hard fought game. Auldy was great, as was Dad
down back, however unfortunately we could not prevail.
In the seniors it was a different story. With plenty to play
for, considering an unexpected loss to the Easterners earlier
this year, our boys played all over the opposition. It was
a really solid win and will give our young men plenty
of confi dence as we take on Ferntree Gully again in the
Elimination fi nal. Best players were Tiernan, Luby and
young Wazza. Saturday night was our vote count night
and it is with great excitement that I can announce that
Aiden Sukkel was able to take out the Best & Fairest for
the Senior team in 2012. ‘Chief’ had a magnifi cent year
and his consistency was rewarded with a close win over big
Cam Ross who fi nished as the runner-up. In the reserves
congratulations to Sam Hesketh, winning the 2012 Craig
Milner award for the best and fairest in the seconds. Sam
also had a great year and again it was extremely close with
Craig Myers, one of Nunawading`s favourite sons fi nishing
in the runner-up position. Congratulations to both Aiden and
Sam. Running a football club is always diffi cult and always
made easier when you have sponsors of the calibre that we
have at Nunawading. A massive thank you to the following

PARK ORCHARDS: The 2012 season came to an early
end for the Park Orchards Senior and Development teams,
as they had the bye in the last round. We congratulate our
coaches Peter Nicholson and Jeremy Thomas and the players
on their achievements in our inaugural season. Both teams
fi nished in eighth place and while we will rue a couple of
close games that just got away from us, overall it has been a
pleasing start to our existence as senior club. Attention now
turns to supporting and preparing the Sharks Under 19 team
