DIVISION 2 CLUB NOTES
up for the fi nals. Best – Edwards, Garthwaite, Watson,
Knee, Goodman, Langdon. SOCIAL NOTES- After the
game it’s back to the clubrooms for awards at 7pm. See
Julie Bleasedale or Kerrie Schilling if you haven’t paid
for Presentation Night as we have limits on the numbers
to attend. This week the Development Squad play
Upper Gully again. Both games this year have been
very competitive so come to play boys. The seniors play
Rowville who have had the upper hand in both games
this year. Let’s get into the action from the start and
more importantly put the ball between the goals more
frequently to maintain scoreboard pressure. GO DEES.
MOOROOLBARK: After a long home and away
season we are now at the business end with the
Seniors, Reserves and Vets all playing in fi nals.
Well done to the Mustang Under 17’s on their
premiership last Sunday and to the Under 11’s who
went down by two points in their GF. Last week we
took on Donvale at home in atrocious conditions.
Unfortunately the Colts couldn’t fi nish off their
season with a win, but they fi nished a credible
fi fth on the ladder. Cal Hirvonen fi nished off a
good season with the BOG award. The Reserves
were superb in their do or die clash, clinching a
fi nals berth with an 11-point victory. Captain Kane
Williams led by example with two match-winning
goals and the BOG award. The boys will go into
this week’s fi nal as underdogs, but will be giving
their all. Conditions had deteriorated even more by
the time the Seniors ran out, but after a slow start,
we managed to take control of the game and record
a solid 61-point win. “Moose” Armstrong played
a blinder, top scoring with three goals and earning
top votes in the award. Today we take on Bayswater
in both the Seniors and Reserves. All Mustang
supporters are urged to be at Jubilee Park to cheer
the boys on. The Heights rooms will be open after
the game so all are invited back for (hopefully)
celebratory drinks. GO MUSTANGS!!!
ROWVILLE: The seniors fi nished off the year
with an impressive 38-point win against local
rival Mulgrave in diffi cult conditions at home last
Saturday. Nathan Hicks, Robbie McEwin and Mitch
Garner kicked two goals each. Best players included
Michael Bussey, Robbie McEwin, Gav Willoughby,
Jimmy Powell and Cody Morris. The reserves
fi nished a disappointing season with a win in veteran
Ricky Watson’s last game. Charlie McKee, Jessie
Owen, Anthony Rowe, Dean Spark and Travis Davis
were our best players in a low scoring affair. The
Under 19’s returned to form to clinch top spot in
a 53-point win against Mulgrave. Mark Seedsman
kicked four goals and Gavin Pears three and they
were joined in the best players by Jarryd Hall, Josh
Jenkins and Tim O’Orien. This week the Under 19’s
take on Doncaster East and the Seniors Montrose in
the Second Finals with a Grand Final berth on offer.
After the seniors game the players will join supporters
back at the club rooms. Everyone associated with the
club was saddened with the passing of club member
Andrew Bussey last week. Andrew is the father of
current senior player Michael and has had a long
association with both the Senior and Junior clubs, our
thoughts are with the Bussey family. Bookings are
still open for the 2012 Presentation Night to be held
on Saturday September 15, 2012 at the Village Green
Hotel in Mulgrave. Limited tickets are available but
the event is fi lling fast, tickets are $70 per head with
drinks at bar prices go to the functions page at www.
rowvillefc.org.au for all the details.
UPPER FERNTREE GULLY: Good Luck to our
Under 19’s and Reserves sides as they start their
fi nals campaign this weekend. Last week was a
hard slog for all three teams in the conditions with
the Under 19’s having a good win and the Reserves
narrowly going down to Montrose who they face
again in the second semi-fi nal. Congratulations
to Vito Lorusso on his 100th game. Well done to
Jeff Franken on his fi rst game in the Reserves and
also great to see Stevie Phillips play his fi rst game
since 2009. The seniors fi nished their season with
a loss to Montrose with the highlight being Matt
Petracca kicking 3 goals to bring up his 50th goal
for the season. Bad luck to the Under 17’s who lost
their Grand Final at Scoresby last week. It was a
great achievement to get their after their start to the
year. Good night last week to fi nish off the season
– thanks to everyone who has helped around the
club during the year. Presentation Night tickets now
available from the club: U19’s and Vets on Friday
14 September and Seniors/Reserves on Saturday 15
