MAKe friends with gibraltar’s famous<br />
Barbary Apes. They’re actually monkeys,<br />
unlike the name suggests, and were originally<br />
found in the Atlas Mountain range, before being<br />
brought over to gibraltar. Your best chance of<br />
seeing them is within ‘the rock’, which rises<br />
nearly 1,400 feet above sea level.<br />

PoP across to Ferragudo. People come to this<br />
traditional fishing village to stroll along the beach<br />

ADMire the caves of hercules, Tangier’s number<br />
one attraction. They’ve been used as a dwelling<br />
since Neolithic times, and were discovered in the<br />
1800s. Since then, excavations have uncovered<br />
human bones and flints. legend has it hercules<br />
himself lived here – he founded the town and is<br />
said to have made the Straits of gibraltar from<br />

TUCK into the unique local cuisine in Motril.<br />
This coastal town is the place to try white<br />
anchovies, ron Palido rum, and migas, which is<br />
similar to cous cous.<br />

Cartagena - SPAIN<br />
TAKe a trip to the nearby town of Murcia,<br />
where it’s all about the history. The pride and<br />
joy here is the cathedral, which showcases<br />
an ornate Baroque façade and a tower that’s<br />
more than 90 metres high. elsewhere, there’s<br />
the Santa Clara Monastery, where you can wander<br />
the museum to see examples of islamic art.<br />
The pretty courtyard is worth a look, too.<br />

Palma - MAJORCA<br />
CheCK out two very different sides of Palma.<br />
The marina showcases the city’s modern face,<br />
with its chic bars and stylish eateries.<br />
The gothic Quarter, meanwhile, is over<br />
750 years old. Browse the stalls that line<br />
the cobbled streets, and get some snaps<br />
of the la Seu cathedral – it took more<br />
than 300 years to build.<br />
