Chief returns home<br />
The Chief has come home!<br />
A very promis<strong>in</strong>g young rugby player from<br />
Giyani has returned to his roots and is now<br />
look<strong>in</strong>g to carve a future <strong>in</strong> sports circles <strong>in</strong> this<br />
area.<br />
Talenta "The Chief" Mathebula was born and<br />
raised <strong>in</strong> the Giyani area where he completed<br />
his primary school career at the well-known<br />
Khanyisa Primary School.<br />
His leadership and sport<strong>in</strong>g abilities, even as<br />
a primary school <strong>boy</strong>, didn’t go unnoticed and<br />
he was <strong>in</strong>vited to attend the prestigious St Johns<br />
College <strong>in</strong> Houghton to complete his school<br />
c a r e e r.<br />
At St Johns Talenta was capta<strong>in</strong> of the soccer<br />
and basketball teams and vice capta<strong>in</strong> of the<br />
first rugby team.<br />
The burly youngster was soon noticed by<br />
prov<strong>in</strong>cial talent hunters and was selected <strong>for</strong><br />
the Gauteng Lions Under 19 prov<strong>in</strong>cial team.<br />
He plays both flank and lock and now wants<br />
to plough back his experience and exposure to<br />
the highest levels of coach<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>to the local<br />
sport<strong>in</strong>g fraternity.<br />
Apart from his parents, local couple Coen<br />
and Sophia Espag have "adopted" Talenta and<br />
assists him <strong>in</strong> his endeavours to create a career<br />
<strong>in</strong> the area.<br />
Talenta <strong>in</strong>tends to play rugby <strong>for</strong> <strong>Letaba</strong> and<br />
hopes to settle <strong>in</strong> or around Tzaneen. His wish<br />
is to land a coach<strong>in</strong>g job, preferably <strong>in</strong> rugby,<br />
but sports <strong>in</strong> general is a passion <strong>for</strong> Telenta,<br />
and he sees himself as a sports developer and<br />
adm<strong>in</strong>istrator <strong>in</strong> the future.<br />

Katlego part of w<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g team<br />
Katlego Masete, a Grade 8 learner of Frans du<br />
Toit, participated <strong>in</strong> the Phyllis Games dur<strong>in</strong>g<br />
the December holidays. This soccer tournament<br />
was held <strong>in</strong> Johannesburg. Katlego<br />
was also a proud <strong>member</strong> of the Thembisa<br />
team, w<strong>in</strong>ner of the competition.
