PAGE 4 PHALABORWA HERALD - Friday 5 February 2010 NEWS KNP unveils 2010 Fifa Match Villages KNP unveils the 2010 FIFA Match Vi l l a g e s The official FIFA accommodation plaque to highlight the Kruger National Park’s preparations for the 2010 FIFA World Cup at Skukuza Rest Camp was formally unveiled last week by the park’s Managing Executive, Abe Sibiya. The company responsible for accommodation during the soccer showpiece, Match, awarded KNP the plaques to mark the three camps, namely Skukuza, Pretoriuskop and Berg en Dal, as the official accommodation providers for 2010 soccer World Cup visitors from June 11 to July 11. "As we unveil the plaque, we want to believe that it will remain as a reminder to our staff and visitors from now until the end of the World Cup, to the effect that we have committed ourselves as KNP to serving the 2010 FIFA World Cup visitors who will come to this country," said Sibiya in his keynote address. Sibiya updated local members of the media and KNP staff on the park's current preparations for the 2010 World Cup in areas such as accommodation renovations in all camps, safety and security issues, disaster management plans, activities and entertainment, and local community development opportunities which will be available in the park during the soccer tournament. He further urged staff members to honour this significant gesture. Sibiya indicated that the KNP is an acclaimed world famous organisation and by implication, should be able to provide world class service as expected by both local and international tourists. "Irrespective of which area of responsibility you are in, please ask yourselves what your contributions are going to be during the World Cup. See to it that you do your bit and aim to enhance the image and reputation of the country and that of the organisation you work for; this should go beyond the 2010 FIFA World Cup," concluded Sibiya. Trauma Counselling - Victims of crime are traumatised and if not acknowledged and treated, victims can suffer from various emotional disorders eg anxiety, depression, anger and violence. Court Preparation & Support - Victims of crime have to give evidence in court if the case was reported to the police. A daunting prospect for most people. At the centre you will be prepared for your day in court and a representative from the centre will even attend the hearing with you. For many victims this can become a liberating experience. Access to Justice - All citizens and victims of crimes have rights. The centre will inform you of your rights and help you to enforce them.
