Heating Technology Heat pumps draw 2⁄₃ of their energy from the environment around them and probably have the greatest CO 2 saving potential of any heating system. By sourcing the electricity needed to run the condenser from exclusively renewable supplies (e.g. hydro electricity), you have what is in principle a zero-emission heating system.
