Pr<strong>of</strong>. Rohit Bhatt served as Pr<strong>of</strong>essor and Head <strong>of</strong> Obst. & Gyne department at <strong>Medical</strong><br />
College, Baroda from 1963 to 1984. At present he is the chief <strong>of</strong> the Obst. and Gynae<br />
department <strong>of</strong> Bhailal Amin General Hospital since 1984. Dr. Bhatt was elected the Fellow<br />
<strong>of</strong> the <strong>National</strong> <strong>Academy</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Medical</strong> <strong>Sciences</strong> in 1981. He has been the President <strong>of</strong> various<br />
national bodies like Federation <strong>of</strong> Obstetricians and Gynecologists <strong>of</strong> <strong>India</strong>, Perinatology<br />
society <strong>of</strong> <strong>India</strong> and <strong>National</strong> association <strong>of</strong> reproductive and child health. Dr. Bhatt was the<br />
vice-president <strong>of</strong> Asia Oceania Federation <strong>of</strong> Obstetricians and Gynecologists in 1992-94. He<br />
also was the Chairman <strong>of</strong> the <strong>India</strong>n College <strong>of</strong> Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ICOG), and<br />
is the Chairman-elect <strong>of</strong> International Journal <strong>of</strong> Gynaecology and Obstetrics (<strong>India</strong>). Dr.<br />
Bhatt was honorary lecturer <strong>of</strong> Obst. & Gynae at the university <strong>of</strong> Edinburgh in 1965. He was<br />
also consultant to John Hopkins Program International in Gynaecology and Obstetrics. Dr.<br />
Bhatt was consultant in MCH program <strong>of</strong> World Health Organization (WHO). He was a<br />
WHO Fellow in UK in 1965. Dr. Bhatt was also a senior consultant to The Population<br />
Council. He has also worked as a Director <strong>of</strong> Laparoscopic Training center under John<br />
Hopkins University in 1979-82. Dr. Bhatt was invited as a visiting pr<strong>of</strong>essor at Postgraduate<br />
Institute <strong>of</strong> <strong>Medical</strong> Education and Research, Chandigarh in 1971 and RNT medical college<br />
in 1975.<br />
Dr. Bhatt serves on the editorial board <strong>of</strong> many scientific journals. He was invited to give<br />
several orations in <strong>India</strong> and abroad. He has contributed chapters in many books and has<br />
more than 150 publications in scientific journals. Dr. Bhatt’s main interests are on maternal<br />
and perinatal health, population stabilization, fertility control, pregnancy anemias and<br />
infertility.<br />
