<strong>of</strong> Medicine, Ex-Dean, Faculty <strong>of</strong> Medicine, Ex-Asst. Director, CCRIMH, Ex-Dean, ICP.<br />
He has been the winner <strong>of</strong> merit scholarships, distinctions, awards. At the age <strong>of</strong> 32, he<br />
became Pr<strong>of</strong>essor and Head; Visiting Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Cardiology, Chicago <strong>Medical</strong> School and<br />
other foreign/<strong>India</strong>n Universities. He is the Recipient <strong>of</strong> 19 Awards viz. Padma Shri, Dr.<br />
B.C. Roy, Priyadarshni, IMA <strong>Academy</strong> Distinguished Services, 3 Lifetime Achievements,<br />
Hon. Brig. Rank, Sindhu Ratan Felicitation Award by Past students.<br />
Dr. Sainani has delivered 24 Orations e.g. B.C. Roy, Netaji, Achanta Lakshmipathi, Austin<br />
Doyle, Pharmacia, etc. G.S. Sainani Oration held by API, IACM, GSI.<br />
He was awarded Ph.D (1977) on basis <strong>of</strong> original research (garlic, onion and heart diseases);<br />
the work was quoted in international journals including Scientific American. He was<br />
awarded D.Sc (First person to get D.Sc (By Research) in faculty <strong>of</strong> Medicine from Pune<br />
(University) in the gracious presence <strong>of</strong> Bharat Ratna Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.<br />
Dr. Sainani has 550 publications. He is the author <strong>of</strong> -Primer <strong>of</strong> Cardiac Diagnosis, Editor-<br />
“<strong>Medical</strong> Therapeutics” & “Update in Medicine”, Editor-in-Chief API Text Book <strong>of</strong><br />
Medicine, Hypertension, Diabetes Mellitus, Emeritus Editor-JAPI, IJCP, Represented <strong>India</strong><br />
as only invitee by WHO to International Congress <strong>of</strong> Editors <strong>of</strong> <strong>Medical</strong> Journals.<br />
He is the Past President <strong>of</strong> several Associations, eg. API, CSI, Diab. Assoc. <strong>of</strong> <strong>India</strong>, RSSDI,<br />
HT Society <strong>of</strong> <strong>India</strong>, ICC, Asprin South Asia Foundation etc; Ex-Chairman World Congress<br />
<strong>of</strong> Clinical Nutrition; Ex-President-International Congress on “Directions in Cardiovascular<br />
advances; Ex-Member-API/Credential Committee, <strong>NAMS</strong> Council, Academic Committee<br />
AIIMS, AFMC, ICMR and MCI Expert Group. He has been an Invited guest<br />
speaker/chairman on many occasions. He was also Emeritus International Advisor-RCP<br />
London.<br />
