PSYCHOSOCIAL SUPPORT
In 2009 based on the achieved results GRCS focused on addressing psychosocial needs of vulnerable
groups of people. In this regard, through July 1 - September 30, 2009 GRCS continued implementation of
short term project. The project aimed at improving the psychosocial well-being of vulnerable groups and
communities. Within the project “Strengthening the GRCS capacity to reduce the outcomes of disasters”
GRCS was supported to continue institutional development and capacity building in psychosocial field
to mitigate outcomes of disasters and afterwards ensure integration of Disaster Management and PSS
activities with other activities implemented by the National Society in the aftermath of the August 2008
armed conflict and during the peace time. GRCS considered this project as a bridge from previous to
future long-term programming to get more success in the PSS rehabilitation of the vulnerable people.
GRCS recognized that psychosocial factors influence the well-being of individuals and communities
and psychosocial support has been considered as a strategic and operational component of Health and
Care and Disaster Management,
strengthening of the capacity
and abilities of GRCS
20 volunteers trained in
