Sub: TTD - Dharma Prachara Parishad - Tirupati - Results of the
Re- Screening test to Purana Pandits held on 2 nd and 3 rd of
February 2004 at SVETA - Regarding.

1 As decided earlier Yescreenina test' has been conducted to
asses the efficiency of the Purana Pandits. The test has been held on 2 nd and
3 rd of Feb'04 in SVETA, Tirupati.
2 The following have been designated as subject-experts to test
the 40 Purana Pandits who attended the rescreening test on 2-2-2004 and
3-2-04 at SVETA, Tirupati.
Sarvasree
1) Prof. Kasireddy Venkatareddy garu
2) Prof. Kandadi Ramanayyacharyulu garu
3) Bugga Subramanyam Sasthry garu
3 The subject experts have undertaken the job assigned to them
in an effective manner touching the following aspects while screening the
Purana Pandits.
1) Purity of Expression
2) Efficiency
3) Dharma Prachara Tendency
4) Mental fitness for propagation of Dharma
5) Purana Recitation style
6) Quoting popular stohes/Strothras and
anecdotes from Epics and popular folklore.
7) Experience and popularity
4 In the background of the above points the Purana Pandits
attended the test have been graded into four categories viz A,B,C and D.
5 The individual reports of each Purana Pandits with the
assessment of the committee are placed herewith separately as Annexure-lll.
The Purana Pandits graded under A&B(the first two grades) are said to be
useful for 'Pravachanam' with the standard they posses on payment of the
present rate of remuneration of Rs.5000/ per month(3900+1100 as FTA). As
regards the other two grades C&D the expert committee has recommended
that they be oiven an intensive training for one vear in SV Dharma Prabhodha
Kalasala. Tirupati.

6 While furnishing the report the subject experts have made the
following observations towards toningup the standard in Purana Pravachanam
of the Purana Pandits.
i. It is very essential to have a separate training centre to trainup
the Purana Pandits as Dharma Pracharaks in its true meaning.
Ofcourse, action is already taken in this regard. It is already
decided to start Dharma Prabhodha Kalasala in the place of the
existing SV Pouranic Training Centre. The Board of Trustees
has also green signaled this already Vide Res.No. 602. dt.
21/22-12-2003.ii
Training in Telugu/Sanskrit particularly with more stress on
Grammar and pronunciation and aesthetics.
iii Exclusive training in Purana Tradition as a 'Sasthra'
iv Special lecture programmes for one week by Swamijis,
speakers from missionaries, scholars, pouranic Bhagavatars
etc., atleast once in a month in Dharma Prabhodha Kalasala.
v Special training in Sasthras and meemansa and Dharma tests.
vi The books on the stories of 'Rishis', Panchatanthrams etc
shouH be made available in'tibrary' to be segregated
exclusively for a separate unit for this purpose for the present in
SV Central Library & Research Centre under the control of the
Asst. Librarian.
Recommendations of the Screening Committee
a. The 25 Purana Pandits who are graded under A&B categories
and who are ready to work as per the convenience of the
administration will be allowed the usual remuneration of
Rs.3900/- (@ Rs.150/- per programme limited to 26
programmes) plus Rs. 1100/- as FTA.
b. The Purana Pandits graded under C&D grades may be
considered to be admitted in SV Dharma Prabhodha Kalasala
for the next academic year i.e from July/Aug'04 and during the
training period these Purana Pandits may be considered to be
paid Rs.3900/- PM as 'scholarship' instead of RS.5000/- drawn
by them now, as recommended in the experts committee. In the
meanwhile the Purana Pandits under C&D grades who are to
undergo intensive training may be considered to be continued in
their present placements till they are admitted In Dharma
Prabhodha Kalasala for intensive training or an alternate
arrangement is made which ever is earlier. Till then they may be
considered to be paid only Rs.3900/- instead of 5000/- they are
drawing now.

c. Most of the Purana Pandits selected under the first two grades
viz A&B have opted to work as both Purana Pandits as well as
PAs and they may be therefore considered to be continued in
the present placements on usual remuneration of Rs 5000/- PM
with instructions to assist the co-ordinator or the organizer in the
Forenoon Session for 2 hours in the respective DPP Centres.
d. In the places of the Purana Pandits categorized under grades
C&D who are proposed to be given intensive training from
July/Aug in SV Dharma Prabhodha Kalasala Tpt, the Secretary,
DPP may be permitted to take the renowned Local Scholars of
the respective areas on payment of a Sambhavana of Rs.150/
per programme(limited upto 26 programmes Pm)
7 The matter is therefore placed before TTD Board of
Trustees for taking decision on points under A,B,C and D in the
background of the recommendations of the subject experts who
conducted the rescreening test recently. No extra financial commitment
is involved in the proposal.
