Spinning a Foodie Yarn or Two
Food and the art of storytelling has been
drawing people together for thousands
of years.
So it is appropriate that the two will be
converging at this year’s Tynemouth Food
Festival.
Jan Archbold of Stories for Tots will be cooking
up an eclectic menu of foodie themed tales to
whet the appetite of our younger festival-goers
on May 11-12.
Find out all about the Hungry Caterpillar, the
Tiger Who Came to Tea, why Sam-I-Am
persists in pestering a grumpy grouch to eat a
plate of green eggs and ham, and relish in the
pace of the classic Each Peach Pear Plum.
Jan has a natural ability to bring stories to
life and loves to get into character. She is
best known as Wanda the Witch who takes
to the skies every Hallowe’en, Santa Claus’s
wife Mrs Mary Christmas and the daring
pirate, Ruby Bloodstone.
She is busy concocting a suitable persona for
Tynemouth Food Festival “along the lines of
Downton Abbey’s Mrs Patmore!”
Jan will be reading in the King’s School
outdoor learning classroom between
11am-1pm and 2pm-4pm on both the
Saturday and Sunday. Tickets cost £2.50
each per child, but will be valid all day so
families can dip in and out of the storytelling
sessions.
Tickets will be available on the day from the Tynemouth Food Festival stand in Queen Victoria Park.
