WELCOME TO THE
It is with pleasure that we welcome you to the second
Tynemouth Food Festival organised by the Tynemouth Business
Forum. Last year’s event was a huge success thanks to the
amazing support from all of you. This year the festival is going
to be even bigger and better. As well as the two days of great
local food and drink, cookery demonstrations from locally
renowned chefs and a week long real ale festival, we have
three afternoon tea dances hosted by the Grand Hotel in the
wonderful setting of Tynemouth Station. The successful pop-up
restaurants are also back with three of the region’s top dining
names bringing their award-winning cuisine to Tynemouth as
they help launch this year’s food festival. King’s School is
again hosting these over three nights between May 8-10 with
chefs Rhian Cradock, Troy Terrington and David Kennedy. What
better way to get in the mood for the weekend’s gastronomy
than attending one of these pop- ups?
This year we have created a food court area in King’s School
with a wide selection of street food stalls, a cider bar and a
cocktail bar – food and drink from around the world to
tantalise your taste buds. We also have 40 market stallholders
selling a wide range of local artisan produce in Queen Victoria
Park; the cream of the region’s culinary talent turning up the
heat in a state-of-the-art demo kitchen; local school children’s
biscuit decorating skills displayed in shops throughout the
village; entertainment for youngsters from a local storyteller
and a local theatre company and the winning school from
the Grand Hotel’s Junior MasterChef Style competition
demonstrating their skills in the demonstration kitchen.
So much to see, do and taste!
None of this, however, would have
been possible without the generous

exhibitors and the amazing support of
the local chefs. Particular mention must
again be given to the steering group
who have worked tirelessly over the
year to ensure that this year’s festival is
again a huge success. Finally, a big

joining us over the weekend. Enjoy the
sights, sounds, aromas and tastes of a
celebration of fine food, drink and
culinary skills. We hope you enjoy
