CLAFLIN UNIVERSITY ASSEMBLY PROGRAM GUIDE<br />
1. All registered students are expected to attend weekly assembly programs.<br />
2. Freshman and sophomore students are required to attend all assembly programs.<br />
3. Attendances for junior and senior students are optional except for Matriculation Day (Spring &<br />
Fall), Founder’s Day, and Honors and Awards Day programs.<br />
4. Excuses for absences from assembly are to be submitted in writing before the next assembly.<br />
5. Male students are to remove their hats when entering all buildings.<br />
6. <strong>Student</strong>s are required to remain in place during the invocation, benediction, and the singing of<br />
the Alma Mater and/or The National Black Anthem.<br />
7. No food or beverage is permitted.<br />
REV. ALONZO WEBSTER WRIGHT LYCEUM PROGRAM<br />
The <strong>University</strong> provides for the “out of class” intellectual and cultural development of its students<br />
by sponsoring The Lyceum Series. Lectures, drama productions, and concerts comprise the year’s<br />
program. Vocational and religious activities are also offered. The Lyceum program will bring to the<br />
<strong>University</strong> and Community well known and professionally established musicians and leaders in the<br />
Humanities and trailblazers in the Sciences.<br />
MILITARY SCIENCE ARMY RESERVE OFFICER<br />
TRAINING CORPS (ROTC)<br />
The Department of Military Science is an academic subdivision of the College of Business and Applied<br />
Professional Sciences and conducts all Army Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) activities. The<br />
department offers instruction not only in military skills, but also practical working knowledge in human<br />
relations, management, responsibility, physical fitness, problem solving, and leadership. All contracted<br />
cadets are paid a subsistence allowance of $25, $300 and $350 per month for freshmen (ROTC<br />
level 1) through seniors (ROTC level IV) respectively and approximately $750 for attending the Leadership<br />
Development and Assessment Course.<br />
OBJECTIVES<br />
<strong>Student</strong>s who satisfactorily complete the Senior Division Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps Program<br />
may be commissioned as a Second Lieutenants and serve in the active, reserve, or National<br />
Guard component of the United States Army.<br />
PROGRAM OFFERINGS<br />
All students are encouraged to pursue, as electives, Basic Course ROTC studies for a period of two<br />
years. These courses may be taken in lieu of physical education. This is a prerequisite for enrollment<br />
in the advanced course unless the student is participating in the Advanced Placement Program of the<br />
Two-Year Commissioning Program. The advanced course is a two-year program which includes<br />
