NASMYTH<br />

About the year 1S27 Mr. James Nasmyth constructed<br />

a small steam carriage, as shown by Fig. 5. Many<br />

successful runs were made with it on the Queensferry<br />

Road, near Edinburgh, carrying six to eight passengers.<br />

The carriage, after running about for some months, was<br />

dismantled, and the engine and boiler sold.<br />

MACERON1<br />

Colonel Maceroni was one of Hancock's most successful<br />
