This fungus appears to be
cosmopolitan having a wide
host/habitat range.
Hypomyces chrysospermus Sepedonium
Cosmopolitan, on a range of
(yellow mould)

hosts and habitats. Appears
Sepedonium mycophilum, to cause yellow mould
Sporotrichum mycophilum, wherever mushrooms are
Trichoderma mycophilum, grown. Also known to be able
Uredo mycophila
to infect mushrooms (Annex
Table 1) but reports of this
are rare.
Mortierella reticulata Reported to be present in
mushroom compost in the
USA. Probably occurs
wherever mushrooms are
grown.
Mucor mucedo
Appears to be cosmopolitan,
it is present on a range of
hosts and habitats in several
continents but there are few
reports in mushroom
compost. Possibly an
opportunistic coloniser of
composts.
Myceliophthora lutea (mat and Chrysosporium luteum, Occurs wherever mushrooms
confetti)
Scopulariopsis lutea
are grown.
Nectria peziza Dialonectria peziza,
Hydropisphaera peziza,
Nectria aurea, Nectria
epigaea, Sphaeria aurea,
Sphaeria peziza
Cosmopolitan, on a wide
range of hosts. Possibly
occurs wherever mushrooms
are grown should hygiene
measures be insufficient.
