by rail from German ports to the Central European h<strong>in</strong>terland.<br />
METRANS has conta<strong>in</strong>er <strong>term<strong>in</strong>al</strong>s and depots <strong>in</strong><br />
<strong>Prague</strong>, Zl<strong>in</strong> (CZ) and Dunajska Streda (SK).<br />
Strong <strong>in</strong> the h<strong>in</strong>terland<br />
The high quality of Kuenz conta<strong>in</strong>er <strong>cranes</strong> is well-known<br />
beyond European borders. The open<strong>in</strong>g of the European<br />
borders offered even more possibilities and chances to (<strong>for</strong>)<br />
Kuenz. The <strong>term<strong>in</strong>al</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>Prague</strong>-Uhr<strong>in</strong>eves is the largest<br />
conta<strong>in</strong>er <strong>term<strong>in</strong>al</strong> <strong>in</strong> Central and Eastern Europe and the<br />
most important hub <strong>for</strong> conta<strong>in</strong>er traffic to the Central<br />
European h<strong>in</strong>terland. In a total area of 420,000 m²<br />
(103.8 acres) it is possible to stack 15,000 TEU. In June and<br />
September 2007 Kuenz <strong>in</strong>stalled three conta<strong>in</strong>er gantry<br />
<strong>cranes</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>in</strong>termodal handl<strong>in</strong>g at railroads, thereby<br />
optimiz<strong>in</strong>g handl<strong>in</strong>g of the <strong>in</strong>creas<strong>in</strong>g conta<strong>in</strong>er traffic.<br />

The <strong>cranes</strong> are designed as double-girder bridges with superstructure.<br />
The ma<strong>in</strong> steel construction of the gantry bridge<br />
consists of mov<strong>in</strong>g support, rigid support and bridge girders.<br />
The hoist rope reeve of the conta<strong>in</strong>er hoist is grooved and<br />
allows operat<strong>in</strong>g the gantry drive, the trolley drive and slew<strong>in</strong>g<br />
without sw<strong>in</strong>g<strong>in</strong>g.<br />
Distribution hub Dunajska Streda (SK)<br />
The Term<strong>in</strong>al Dunajska Streda of METRANS is <strong>in</strong> Slovakia,<br />
close to the Hungarian border, and has connect<strong>in</strong>g transport<br />
to Southeast Europe.<br />
The total area of the <strong>term<strong>in</strong>al</strong> is about 120,000 m² (about 30<br />
acres) with a capacity <strong>for</strong> 10,000 TEU. In December 2006<br />
Kuenz <strong>in</strong>stalled two conta<strong>in</strong>er gantry <strong>cranes</strong>. The two <strong>cranes</strong><br />
are designed as a conventional double girder bridge.<br />
