I would like to congratulate most sincerely on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of ELTIS. Transport serves the well being of our citizens. This must involve a high level of awareness of sustainability, sensitivity for the environment and responsibility for the same level of well being of the next generations. The tenth birthday of ELTIS proves that the idea of one consolidated European information source on urban transport and mobility was a good one. Despite its modest means, ELTIS has grown in ambition, contents and use. There are few methodological approaches and design tools in this domain but a large bunch of experimentations and demonstrations realised in various cities. Experience sharing and explained show cases are then the most efficient way for transferring knowledge; in this way the ELTIS platform is a powerful tool to help Local Transport Authorities and their associates to design and to implement adequate solutions as well as to find contact persons to learn about difficulties, barriers and opportunities, key success factors.
