Cobham’s On Board Oxygen Generation System frees Joint Strike Fighter pilots from the limitations of bottled
oxygen, with the potential to increase endurance and range while reducing line maintenance.
As the world leader in probe and drogue air-to-air refuelling, Cobham is also providing the F-35’s retractable
refuelling probe, which stows away completely to preserve the aircraft’s stealth performance.
The Group has a range of technologies on the F-35, including infrared countermeasure cryogenic cooling system,
nitrogen monitor, pneumatic bomb release actuator and pressure vessels.
The F-35’s advanced radar and communications systems also incorporate Cobham integrated microwave
assemblies, slip ring assemblies, radiating elements and filters.
Cobham systems will be part of every F-35 pilot’s survival equipment, from their harness restraints to the lifejacket
auto-inflation system that will protect an unconscious pilot from drowning after an overwater ejection.
