CAPABILITIES The Group’s video transmission technology is at the heart of live video feeds in major sporting events, from helmet-mounted cameras in SkiCross racing at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics to live cockpit video from aircraft pulling 12Gs at the Red Bull Air Race. Major events such as the Academy Awards Oscars ceremony and the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix have used Cobham surveillance technology to monitor approaches to the venues. The Group’s equipment has protected VIPs and heads of State, including the Indian Prime Minister and world leaders attending the London G20 summit. Cobham’s video compression and transmission technology is increasing safety for bomb disposal units in Afghanistan, by extending the effective range at which they can operate specialist robots.
