The Undead Wake a Quiet Town
The Triangle has been home to countless
5k races and unique fundraisers before, but
has it ever been invaded by zombies? One
thing is for certain, it will in 2011.
This Oct. 29, the quiet town of Fuquay-
to the rank of Lieutenant in 2006 where
he has supervised, trained and influenced
countless officers.
When asked why he became a policeman,
he said “my brother was a police officer
and I looked up to him, so it was the logical
thing for me to do.” As Atkins reflected on
his career, he said, “I have loved working
with the public. There are times it has been
difficult, but it is very rewarding to know I
have helped so many people over the past
32 years. Working in a police department
is a kind of brotherhood and Fuquay-Varina
has been the best brotherhood. When my
mother passed away in 2005, I got tremendous
support from the department. Chief
Smith was just coming into his position
party at the SBI to attend my mother’s funeral.
I will never forget that gesture. This
of great character and I am proud to have
