Te Maruata is one of four designated Marae in Whangarei affiliated to Ngati Hau. The other three Marae are Pehiaweri, Whakapara and Akerama. The Pouwhenua Installation represents individual land blocks recorded in the archives of the Maori Land Court from 1865 to 1920. The purpose of the Pouwhenua Installation is to evoke memory of Ngati Hau losses of people, land and resources. Yours faithfully, Hana Maxwell (Ms)
