Lending Performance
ProCredit Bank Congo strengthened its market
presence in 2007. The number and volume
of loans outstanding rose significantly, driven
by an increase of more than 90% in the number
of very small borrowers (amounts of less than
USD 1,000) served by the bank. This increase
followed our introduction of the Express Micro
Loan, a credit facility that offers very small businesses
streamlined procedures and faster processing.
In the SME client segment (USD 1,000
– 50,000), we achieved growth rates of over 50%.
Towards the end of the year, we made the first
loans for amounts of between USD 50,000 and
USD 100,000 to repeat borrowers whose financing
requirements had increased in line with the
growth of their businesses.
The bank disbursed more than 6,200 business
loans totalling over USD 21 million in 2007. The
renewal rate, or percentage of loans disbursed
to repeat borrowers, was 78%, indicating a high
level of customer satisfaction with the bank’s
credit services. The outstanding loan portfolio
grew by 63% during 2007 to USD 12,021,004 and
consisted of 4,917 loans at year end.
