The ALFA RUMOR The Arizona Alfa Romeo Owners Club
construct the final coachwork influeneced by the
Aerodynamica styling, originated by Carrozzeria
Touring in the 1930s. The car underwent a three
year restoration and received the prestigious
2011 Designers Award (First Place) at the Art
Center College of Design in Pasadena.
Other Alfas on the tour may not have been as
unique, but were fine vehicles. Bruce and Cathy
Milner of Los Angeles brought a very clean 1961
Giulietta Sprint Veloce Series II. Also along for
the ride was the 1967 Giulia Sprint owned by
Daniel and Christina Monti of Venice, CA.
Everyone on the road seemed to have had a good
time during this year s Copperstate. As might be
expected with cars of a certain age, particularly
those build before WWII, some challenges can
be expected. But, overall, most of the drivers
kept their metal mistresses headed in the right
direction.
Planning for next year s Copperstate 1000 is
already underway. Make sure you are there at
the send off, or plan on bringing your car along
for the ride. It is a great time and supports a
great cause.
Spring Trip to the Queen
Creek Olive Mill
The last several times we have gone out to the
Queen Creek Olive Mill, we have (1) gone in the
rain and (2) ended up on a dirt dead-end road
that did not get us where we were going. Things
were considerably different on April 28 as we
headed out toward the Olive Mill this year. Not
only was the weather top-down beautiful, but we
had much better directions to get us to this far
east valley mecca.
We had a good crowd of Alfas along for the trip,
with a spare Fiat and Porsche mixed in.
