DUNCAN MACKENZIE joined the Madras Medical Establishment as an assistant surgeon in May 1846 and served in operations in Aden in 1847.
During the Mutiny he was present at the Storming of Jhansi, the action at Banda and the Surrender of Kirwi. He became a surgeon in May 1863
and a Surgeon Major in May 1866.
