DUNCAN MACKENZIE joined the Madras Medical Establishment as an assistant surgeon in May 1846 <strong>and</strong> served in operations in Aden in 1847.<br />

During the Mutiny he was present at the Storming of Jhansi, the action at B<strong>and</strong>a <strong>and</strong> the Surrender of Kirwi. He became a surgeon in May 1863<br />

<strong>and</strong> a Surgeon Major in May 1866.<br />
