DOUGLAS STANLEY BAKER died of wounds, 23 July 1916, and is buried at the Puchevillers Military Cemetery. 318 Great War Casualty Group: Three, 41217 Pte. C. W. Johnson, Lan. Fus., British War and Victory Medals, Memorial Plaque, first two in forwarding box, last in card case of issue, extremely fine (3) £100-150 CHARLES WILLIAM JOHNSON, 11 th Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers was killed in action 9 April 1918 and is commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial. World was born in Bermuda in 1874 and was indentured as an Engine Fitter in Her Majesty's Dock Yard, Bermuda, 1 July 1889. On completion of his apprenticeship, he entered the Royal Navy as an Engine Room Artificer on 22 April 1895. The lot is sold with a copy of the apprenticeship indenture, a duplicate commission for Chief Artificer Engineer, 17 April 1917, and a copy of The London Gazette, 11 December 1918, with an Admiralty forwarding letter, 28 February 1918. 327 1914-15 Stars to Casualties: Two, 2419 E. RICHARD MARKS was killed in action 17 October 1917, while serving aboard H.M.S. Mary Rose. He is commemorated on the Chatham Naval Memorial.
