Introduction to lecture 10
Large digital systems are more than state machines and combinational
blocks. Most large systems have two parts: datapath and control.
In this lecture, we will study these large systems. The best way to
do this is via examples.
Unfortunately, there is no “recipe” for
designing these things. But, as you get
experience, you will become good at it.
Much of this is in the textbook,
Pages 673-712 (they use ASM
charts, we will use state diagrams
since you are more familiar with
those)
