Stadhaven Minerva (Minerva
City Port) forms a transitional
area between the flourishing port
area around the Coenhaven and
the Houthaven, where housing
construction is planned. In 2006,
Stadhaven Minerva continued
to move forward. This location
used to be called Minervahaven.
In the past, it served as a timber
port facility, but the volume of
wood products handled here has
dropped off sharply. Accessibility
is not up to modern standards.
The Port of Amsterdam has
given it a new name, Stadhaven
Minerva, and a new destination.
Stadhaven Minerva is developing
into a business park for creative
and artisan-style companies
operating in a mixture of old
industrial buildings and new
daringly designed facilities.
Stadhaven Minerva will serve as
a buffer between the urban areas
to the east and large-scale portrelated
industry to the west.
In 2006, the Port discussed its
plans with the existing companies
at this location; developed detailed
spatial plans; and began a
marketing campaign for the area.
Among the new arrivals are
Dedato ontwerpers & architecten
(design and architectural firm),
Barts (produces clothing accessories
for winter sports) and The
Hilt (produces children’s clothing).
Moreover, the Houtpark
multi-tenant building, located
on the Archangelweg, has become
operational.
